WASHINGTON (May 23, 2023)—C5 Capital, a leading venture capital firm focused on investing in cybersecurity, energy security, and space, is pleased to congratulate its portfolio company Axiom Space on the successful launch and docking of Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2), its second all-private, multinational four-person crew to the International Space Station (ISS) onboard the SpaceX Dragon Freedom spacecraft.
Axiom Space continues to make history with the successful launch of its second private mission. On May 22, 2023, the spacecraft successfully completed its 15-hour journey to join 7 ISS Expedition crew members already on board the ISS. This marks a major milestone for Axiom Space as it pioneers the development of a commercial space station that will open opportunities for both government and private-sector astronauts.

The Ax-2 crew includes astronauts Peggy Whitson, the director of human spaceflight at Axiom Space, aviator John Shoffner, and two mission specialists from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Alqarni. Notably, Barnawi has made history as the first Saudi female astronaut to go to space. The four astronauts will spend eight days aboard the International Space Station, carrying out research, outreach, and commercial activities.
